General Policies

Reservations

A deposit of one night's rate is required to guarantee a one-night reservation, and a deposit of half of the total is required for longer reservations. All balances are due in full at or prior to check-in.

Cancellation

*Note all refunds are less 3.75% service charge. This is the amount charged to us by our credit card processor.

Reservations must be cancelled by 12pm, local hotel time, 14 days prior to arrival to receive a full refund*. For multi-room reservations, or single room reservations of six days or longer, reservations must be cancelled 30 days prior for a full refund*. Whole House reservations and modifications must be cancelled 60 days prior for a full refund*. Any cancellations after the above periods will forfeit the entire deposit.

We strongly recommend trip insurance. Typically trip insurance will cover your stay against the unexpected.

Check-in / Check-out

Normal check-in is from 3 PM to 8 PM. If you expect to arrive after 8 PM please call or email us for late check-in instructions. Please note the following fees apply - check-in between 8-10 pm is $50; check-in after 10pm is $100. Please contact us for mobile key option which may be available. All guests must produce a valid 21+ ID upon check-in. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-outs must be approved in advance or additional charges may apply.

Groups, Weddings, & Parties

For groups reserving three or more rooms, a 30-day cancellation policy applies, and full payment in advance may be required. Guests planning events or weddings at an outside venue must make arrangements with us directly before booking any rooms. In certain circumstances there may be a requirement to take over the whole six room hotel. We do this to protect the expectations of both the group, and for other guests who would otherwise be on the property at that time. Fathoms is a small hotel, and we want your event to be as special as possible.

Due to Fathoms' small size, only registered guests are permitted on the property. Exceptions to this policy can be made only if requested in advance and approved in writing by Fathoms prior to arrival.

Note - Fathoms does not hold weddings on our property, but we offer wonderful small, intimate, and very special elopements.

Minimum Stays

A two-night minimum stay is required in our waterfront rooms (Helm, Starboard and Windward) on all weekends when a Saturday night is included. A two-night minimum stay may be required in all rooms during peak dates and holidays.

Room Occupancy

Fathoms has only one king bed per room, for one or two guests maximum. If you are traveling with additional adults or children, we have two rooms (the Delmara and the Helm) that can accommodate two more guests (maximum occupancy of four); and one room (the Windward) that can accommodate one more guest (maximum occupancy of three) on a sofa-bed for an additional $25 charge. Fathoms does not permit roll-aways or air mattresses in rooms. Fathoms provides daily housekeeping.

General

Fathoms has a zero-tolerance policy and has the right to refuse service or accommodation in the hotel or may remove a person who: while on the premises of the hotel acts in an intoxicated or disorderly manner; destroys or threatens to destroy hotel property or causes or threatens to cause a public disturbance; refuses or is unable to pay for accommodations or services. Fathoms may limit the number of persons who may occupy a particular guest room in the hotel and will only allow registered guests to use its facilities. A person who negligently or intentionally causes damage to the hotel or any furniture or furnishings within the hotel, shall be liable for damages observed by the hotel staff, including the hotel's loss of revenue resulting from the inability to rent or lease rooms while the damage is being repaired..

Accessibility

An ADA-compliant guest room is available and should be reserved in advance. For more information, please contact the hotel.

Pets

We appreciate the special relationship between pets and their owners; however, pets are not allowed at Fathoms. This policy does not apply to guide dogs and service animals. Learn more here.

Noise

Fathoms is located in the Hamlet of Port Washington. The Hamlet has a noise ordinance from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am, which is strictly enforced. Guest(s) who do not comply with the ordinance when reminded by hotel staff will be asked to leave the property and will be charged for any remaining balance of their stay.

Alcohol

Alcoholic beverage service is restricted to those 21 years or older with valid identification.

No Smoking

Fathoms is a smoke free facility. If a smoking violation occurs in a room, the guest will be charged a $500 cleaning fee per room. Additional deep cleaning if required may incur an additional fee.

PACKAGE POLICY

We are pleased to accept and store all boxes and shipments according to the following guidelines:

Due to limited storage space, packages should be delivered to the hotel no more than 48 hours in advance. Exceptions to this must be brought to the attention of Steven or Cindie Leigh, info@fathomshotel.com, Tel. 516-883-4800.

  1. All packages must show the shipper’s phone number and name.
  2. Packages shipped to the hotel must be addressed as follows:

    Attn: [Guest Name], a guest.

    NOTE: 433 Main Street has multiple entrances. All packages must contain the words “HOTEL ENTRANCE” in the address.

  3. For storage, handling, or delivery of packages, charges are as follows:

    0 to 10 pounds $0.00
    11 to 49 pounds $25.00
    Over 50 pounds $50.00

  4. Packages should be received during shipping & receiving hours:

    Monday – Saturday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

  5. Do not ship valuables – Fathoms Hotel & Marina is not responsible for contents. Deliveries requiring a signature will be refused until guest is on premises.
  6. We recommend that guests place a packing slip in both the inside & outside of each package, and that all packages are covered by insurance.
  7. The hotel policies on safe package handling are based on advice from the United States Postal Service (USPS).
  8. Items stored for longer than 5 days will incur an additional storage fee of $10.00 per day that will be billed to the room or credit card on file. After 30 days items will be disposed of at guest expense.
  9. For unclaimed packages or items left behind after a guest departs, Fathoms will call or text the guest or the shipper to obtain information to forward the packages. Any forwarding charges incurred are the sole responsibility of the guest and will not be paid for by the hotel. If no information on an unclaimed package is available, the unclaimed package will be discarded seven days after your departure.
  10. The hotel will not accept COD (Cash-on–Delivery) packaging without payment in full before the delivery is made.
